You can feel better.  There is hope.  You can reconnect to yourself and others in your life.  You can make helpful changes towards more joy, healing and contentment.  Everyone needs support.  You do not have to be alone.  It is a big step towards your healing and transformation to make initial contact with a therapist when stuck, in trauma, in pain or overwhelm.

My name is Erika Demers. As a licensed marriage family therapist (LMFT), I provide psychotherapy to clients in Humboldt County in northern California. I am honored to be your guide on the journey to health and healing. As you sort out and recreate your life, I will be there to support you and help you confront the issues that are keeping you from becoming the person you really are or having the life you want.  I specialize in working with individual adults who suffer from stress, anxiety and/or depression.  I enjoy working with people who feel ready to listen more deeply to themselves and who feel ready to take steps towards transformation.  I am intuitive, holistic and creative.

I have been a practicing therapist for over 15 years and have experience with cognitive behavioral techniques, expressive arts, guided imagery, and mindfulness work. I find that these modalities can be helpful when I am guiding a person on the path of healing and transformation. Having these “tools” in my “tool kit” means that I have many ways to help my patients, depending on their unique set of circumstances.

Often my practice is full.  I do have a waiting list when I do not have new openings in my schedule to offer.  Right now I  am doing teletherapy sessions (phone and video chat) during this crazy time. Please contact me today for a consultation. I typically respond in 1-2 business days.  I currently am seeing clients Mondays through Thursdays.  I do not offer evening or weekend appointments.

If you are currently experiencing a mental health crisis, please call the Humboldt County Mental Health Crisis line at (707) 445-7715 or dial 911.
